Although you may think that visiting the dentist is optional, it’s essential if you want to have great mouth health. It’s no good for your teeth to simply look good; they must be healthy in order to stay looking great for longer! The dentist can spot potential problems early on, and give you some great advice. Brushing Alone Just Isn’t Enough

Sorry, but brushing alone really isn’t enough if you want optimal oral hygiene. You must brush, floss, and then rinse. Flossing will get rid of any nasty bits of debris stuck in between your teeth. They can actually be a big cause of bad breath! If you get rid of them, your breath will be nicer and you won’t be as susceptible to tooth decay. You can then rinse with a good mouthwash, and this will get rid of any remaining bits of gunk and germs. You’ll have extra minty breath too!

Certain Foods Can Affect Your Teeth

You may or may not already be aware that certain foods can affect your teeth. Sweets, chocolate, and fizzy pop are no good for the teeth and can rot them away like nobody’s business. You Should Never Brush After Eating

When you get up in the morning, you should always brush before eating. Brushing after eating means your teeth have already softened somewhat, and you could brush away the enamel. At night time, you should always wait a while before brushing your teeth after eating. If you brush away the enamel, it’ll never come back!

Don’t Brush Too Hard

Brushing too hard is another thing that many people are guilty of. This again, affects the enamel. There’s absolutely no need to push your toothbrush on your teeth too hard. Preferably you’ll use an electric model, in which case this will do most of the work for you. Simply slowly move the brush around each tooth and they should be perfectly clean afterwards. Don’t worry if your gums bleed a little at first, it’s normal. However, if this continues you should see a dentist for advice. If you must use a manual brush, you still don’t need to brush too hard.
