How to Make Your Summer Wardrobe Work For Winter

Women tend to spend a lot of money on their clothes. However, it’s money we love to spend! That being said; it can’t hurt to try to style our summer wardrobe up for winter – it could end up saving us a lot of money in the long run! There’s absolutely no reason you can’t make your summer wardrobe work in winter. Here’s how to do it:

Add Thick Tights

Tights are probably one of the greatest inventions ever. Don’t be fooled: they might look boring, but they are so versatile and a really useful item to have in the wardrobe. You can wear tights under a dress, a skirt, or even with shorts to instantly make a summer outfit suitable for colder weather. The great thing about them is that you can find different styles too. You can find tights with different patterns, in different textures, and in different colours so you can create any kind of look you desire. You can even wear funky socks over the top of your tights for a unique, fun look.

Boots

Winter calls for a pair of great boots to keep our feet warm, and of course for walking in the rain and snow. They look great with skirts and shorts, and especially with tights as mentioned before. It’s a shame, but sandals can’t be transitioned over to winter. You can still wear your flat ‘dolly’ style shoes that are popular in summer fashion, but you’ll need to make sure you’re wearing tights, or your feet will be freezing cold.

Leggings

Leggings are just the thing you need to help you take t-shirt style dresses, tunics, and dresses to winter. They aren’t the warmest of items, but they are less see through than tights. Sometimes, wearing tights with a tunic doesn’t look right. All you need to do to make this work is layer more items, such as cardigans and jackets.

Black Jeans

Why not wear your summer crop tops with black jeans for a cool look? You don’t have to stop at black jeans either: choose high waisted, tailored trousers for a smart look. You can still show off a little bit of midriff; you’ll just be a bit cooler than if you were to wear a big, chunky jumper.

Throw On a Cardigan or Jumper

Throwing a cardigan or jumper on over an outfit can instantly make it suitable for cooler days. You can do this with anything too – you just can’t beat the layered look! Pair your dresses with tights and a cardigan or a jumper. Shorts even look great when you wear tights and a jumper!

All you really need is a few jumpers, cardigans, and pairs of tights to take you from summer to winter. You may not even need to buy a new winter wardrobe! Don’t forget a big, chunky scarf to wear to keep you extra warm and layer with your other items.
